Spray foam insulation of a skylight.
Many people don’t understand how much energy is lost from skylights because they are too busy thinking they will be getting natural sunlight or a little bit of the blue skies inside their homes during the day and the majesty of the stars and moons at night .
The truth of the matter is the perimeter of the tunnel that goes up to the skylight needs to be properly insulated. Most choose to insulate using Fiberglass batts. What happens over time is those batts flop over or fall out of place. This just naturally happens.
The bottom line is, this is an area that many tend to overlook is one on the most important areas to insulate when installing a skylight.
Hot air rises and instead of losing energy , it should be properly insulated to avoid energy loss!
